Job Description

A Chinese Wok Chef is a culinary specialist focused on high-heat, stir-fry cooking, which is a core technique in Chinese and various other Asian cuisines. The role demands speed, precision, and an in-depth knowledge of authentic Asian flavors.

Skills Required

Expert proficiency in using the traditional wok and high-BTU wok range. Mastery of techniques like stir-frying (Chao/Bao), deep-frying, steaming, braising, and achieving Wok HeiAdvanced knowledge of Chinese cutting techniques (e.g., slicing, shredding, dicing, mincing) to ensure uniform cooking and presentation

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of hands-on experience as a Wok Cook, Chef de Partie (Wok Section), or similar role in a high-volume Chinese or Asian cuisine restaurant is commonly required.
  • A diploma or degree in Culinary Arts, specifically with a focus on Asian or Chinese cuisine, is a significant advantage, though not always a strict requirement.
